Cold Brew Coffee

At-home cold brew coffee is possible! Your iced coffee won't ever taste bitter or watery again, and it's so simple to do.

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup (113 grams) whole coffee beans
  • 4 cups (907 grams) water

Special Equipment

  • Coffee or spice grinder
  • Cheesecloth or flour sack cloth

STEPS :

     1. Coarsely grind the coffee :

The coffee beans should be ground using the coarsest setting on your grinder or quick 1-second pulses in a spice grinder. The coffee should be coarsely ground rather than finely ground. Use a little under 1 cup of grinds.

     2. Coffee and water should be mixed :

The coffee grounds should be added to the container you're using to make the cold brew. Pour the water on top of that. Carefully swirl the grinds in the water with a long-handled spoon until they are completely covered.

     3. Steep overnight :

Cover the jar with a lid or a small plate to keep pests and debris out. Allow the coffee to steep for around 12 hours. Whether the coffee is refrigerated or left on the counter, the steeping time is the same.

     4. Strain the coffee :

Put a little sieve lined with cheesecloth or flour sack cloth over a large measuring cup or dish. A sieve should be used to filter coffee.

     5. Store the coffee :

Coffee can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week if it is transferred to a small bottle or jar.

     6. Serve the coffee :

Add as much milk or water as you'd like to dilute the coffee. Serve over ice or reheat in the microwave for a few seconds.
